Kitchen display (KDS) & KOT

KOT printing and kitchen display system (KDS) for restaurants

Orders from waiters and QR tables arrive in one live kitchen queue. The kitchen moves each ticket from New to Preparing to Ready, and KOT slips can print on the kitchen’s thermal printer, so the floor always knows what’s ready.

How it works

One ticket, from order to service

The kitchen works from the same order the waiter entered, so there’s no second copy to reconcile.

  1. Order sent

A waiter or a guest at a QR table sends the order. It appears in the kitchen queue without anyone refreshing the screen.

  2. KOT prints

If the restaurant prints KOTs, a slip prints on the thermal printer when staff send the order.

  3. Kitchen updates status

Kitchen staff move the ticket from New to Preparing to Ready.

  4. Floor sees it’s ready

Waiters and reception see the updated status and can serve and bill the order.

What’s included

A kitchen setup that fits your restaurant

Screen, print or both

Each restaurant chooses how the kitchen receives orders: on the kitchen display, as printed KOT slips, or both.

Live kitchen queue

New, Preparing and Ready lanes update in real time for everyone on the team.

Silent thermal printing

With QZ Tray installed on the counter computer, KOTs and bills print in one click with no print dialog. You pick which printer handles bills and which handles KOTs.

Kitchen role access

Kitchen staff sign in to a kitchen workspace focused on tickets, separate from billing and admin tools.

Order updates

Real-time order notifications help the floor catch ready orders without crowding the screen.

Runs in the browser

The kitchen display is a web app, so it can run on a tablet, PC or other screen with a modern browser.

What to know

  • The live queue needs a connection. Orders taken offline appear in the kitchen after they sync.
  • Silent printing needs QZ Tray installed and set up once on each counter computer (Windows, macOS or Linux), with the thermal printer working at the operating-system level. Without it, EETS uses the browser’s print dialog.
  • Orders guests place through QR ordering appear on the kitchen display; KOT slips print for orders sent from staff devices.
  • Quick POS counter bills can skip the kitchen flow entirely when a café doesn’t need it.
